Appraisals
We have 18 years experience in providing numismatic appraisals
for Estates, Government, Financial Institutions and the
public, and offer expert service at highly-competitive
rates. We offer two general types of appraisals to suit
your needs:
Estate
or "Market" Appraisal
This type of appraisal is usually conducted where an accurate
Market value is desired for a collection, in preparation
for its potential sale or distribution among family members.
We carefully examine all items in question, with primary
consideration given to scarcity and state of preservation.
Market appraisals are calculated to reflect the value
at which our company (or other recognized dealers) would
be expected to purchase these items, and we pride ourselves
in being both accurate and extremely competitive in our
evaluations. Our appraisal fee for these sessions is 100%
refundable if the collection is sold to us at the appraised
market value within a reasonable time period following
the date of appraisal (usually one to two weeks).
Insurance
or "Replacement" Appraisal
This type of appraisal is most frequently conducted for
either institutions or insurance firms, but also for those
wishing to simply ensure they have proper insurance coverage
for their personal collections. As with Market appraisals,
the key qualities assessed include scarcity and state
of preservation. Insurance/Replacement appraisals are
calculated to reflect the value at which items could realistically
be replaced under normal circumstances, and with a reasonable
amount of patience and effort. Don't assume your household
policy will cover replacement of your coin collection
- investigate before, and not after a loss!
Please feel free to contact Sean Isaacs directly to discuss
the purchase or appraisal of your collection. We offer
convenient retail hours for walk-in appraisals, and are
also pleased to offer House-call appointments in the National
Capital Region, with additional availability evenings
and on weekends.
